Hello!

I'm not sure what a first post should entail, but I guess a good place to start is what this site is and why it exists.

What's the Goosery?

For now, its just a journal. I'm pretty much constantly in the middle of an anime, show, book, or game, and I thought it would be fun to note my thoughts on some of them as I go through...and initially that was gonna be it. That said, since making a Neocities account, I've been browsing some random sites and am blown away by all the cool things people are doing on here - the gears in my head are turning, but I figure I'll build a habit of writing first before I get any big ideas.

Why do this?

A few reasons:

  1. I want to more actively engage with the media I consume. I believe writing my thoughts as I go through something will get me to think more critically (or at least thoroughly) about said work, as opposed to just kinda absorbing it and moving on
  2. Most of my IRL friends arn't necessary into the same media I am (or are but just don't have the time to keep up). Writing stuff here will let me feed the part of my brain that wants to yap about those interests
  3. Im pretty sure writing down your thoughts is good for the brain box, at least thats what they tell me
  4. Neocities and the small web movement in general is pretty appealing to me, and I'd like to a part of it, in however small a way

What else...its called the Goosery because my dog is named Goose.

She's very gentle and sweet and dumb and pathetic.

I'm using Zonelets right now for a blogging template because it feels like an excellent, quick way to get started, but I may migrate to something else in the future (like I said, browsing other sites has me feeling like I can do way more with this). I've gone with this kinda dark-academia-type color palette and background pretty much on a whim. I don't know that much about the aesthetic, but I like what I've seen.

Not sure how often Ill update things here - It's dependent on both irl free time to write and how often I actually feel like I have something to say. It'll be a minute though, I'm currently finishing up the Fate/Stay Night VN and after taking a break to get through some other games in my backlog, I'll start journaling my experience with With on the Holy Night, another Type-Moon VN. Those other games in between might get some posts, but we'll see. I feel like id need to take notes as I play to do that, which is easier with a VN than other games.

That should be it? No comments or guestbook set up yet so i've got no way of knowing who's seeing this. Doesn't matter though, 99% you're someone I know irl so at that point you can dm me if you've got opinionstm
